Mobile learning converges with competency-based | eCampus News

"Software developed at the University of Central Florida is powering a new way of learning." notes eCampus News.

Today’s student expects their learning experience to be as mobile-centric as they are. DreamDegree is an educational experience that serves up course content to students in their individual learning style, when they are ready and where they spend the most time – on their mobile devices. And technology developed at the Institute for Simulation and Training (IST) at UCF is supporting this interactive mobile learning experience.

California-based SignificantTechnology, LLC licensed the technology developed by David Metcalf, Ph.D. and his research team in the Mixed Emerging Technology Integration Lab (METIL) at IST to support its existing cloud-based learning tool. In addition to assisting the adaptive learning experience, the UCF technology uses the principals of gamification to reinforce learning objectives by encouraging students to work as a team in competitive environments.
