Ultimately, the book shows readers how to use Moodle to accept and assess coursework submissions, discuss work with students, and deliver quizzes, tests, and videos.

With this book, users will be able to embed Twitter, Wikipedia, and Facebook in their Moodle course page. They will learn how to manage the space in a course page and navigate around a Moodle site easily. Moodle 1.9 Testing and Assessment starts off by teaching readers to create different types of questions such as short answer questions, multiple choice questions, and so on. Users will then realize how to integrate all of them in a Moodle quiz and to create a complete test by setting the various options such as Timing, Display, and others. They will learn how to test and assess students through work submitted using Moodle Workshop which also provides an opportunity for self- and peer-assessment of the student's work.

Using this book, Moodle administrators and educators will be able to test their students' listening and comprehension skills for details using audio, video, and forums. They will be able to evaluate students’ reading skills using Timed reading quizzes and Hot Potatoes, assess their speaking ability by recording multiple audio files and tracking their comments by using NanoGong and Voiceboard. Finally, they will also learn to track the progress of the tests and thus, monitor student's improvement by setting up a Moodle Gradebook.
