Free Lectures, Performances Offer Musical Education

OLLI, campus and community musicians will be performing and sharing knowledge on music this spring as part of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute programs.

A special spring instrumental recital, featuring OLLI members who are classically trained musicians performing solo works, will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, March 12, in the Mackey Auditorium and Shapiro Wing of Cal State Fullerton's Ruby Gerontology Center, 800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton, 92831.

Jazz Series at Florentine’s Grill, features live music performances and a discussion about the history of the genre and a particular theme. Music is provided by Joe Lawton, Mike LeVan and the Docs. Children are welcome. The Saturday 12:30-2:30 p.m. programs are held at Florentine’s Grill, 102. N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, 92832. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. The schedule:
  • Feb. 6 — "Bossa Nova and the Blues"
  • March 5 — "Tony Bennett and Peggy Lee"
  • April 9 — "Billie Holiday and George Shearing"
  • May 14 — "Broadway and Movie Musicals"...
