E-learning was established in 1996 and provides multimedia learning to over 27 500 learners nationwide enrolled at 52 partner schools. The e-learning curriculum covers English, mathematics, life science, physical science and accounting. The programme covers the curriculum for grades 10, 11 and 12 and is designed to dramatically improve the quality and depth of secondary education output. The programme has, to date, accelerated the pass rate in these subjects in 52 of our partner schools throughout South Africa.
The centres are equipped with a central server, wireless network, drop down screens and an e-learning trolley. The trolley comprises a computer, projector, DVD player, wireless router and amplified speakers and a computer. Each school is equipped with five e-learning trolley machines. Teachers at the schools have been trained to use the system so that it can be utilised to the utmost, and its benefits reach a vast majority of learners. Unique login credentials have been created for all educators and loaded with content to assist them to deliver content-rich, challenging and interesting learning material to students.
Education is a top priority for Dimension Data and the company has touched over 27 500 learners through its e-learning programme, across 52 schools. Furthermore, over 3 000 educators have been trained on the E-Learning Management Tool.
