Our online professional development course is an introduction to using free and accessible online digital media tools for K-12 teaching and learning. It explores ways to use blogging, image manipulation, sound design, interactive maps, video editing, and basic media literacy tools for your content area. It also allows time to develop your own action plan for developing a media project assignment for your students.

This course is for the educator who wants to effectively integrate media into the classroom as a teaching tool. It is a great opportunity to learn how to assign media projects and students develop strong connections to 21st Century skills. It is also a great way to integrate Common Core Standards into your curriculum as well.

The course is from July 10 – August 21 and registration ends on July 8.

Here are a few details about the course:

- It is a five week course
- You should be spending about 5-6 hours per week on the assigments/reading
- The materials are presented weekly, asynchronously (ie, there is no physical location or required online meeting time). You can choose when to go through the materials and complete the assignments each week. However, participants will need to keep pace with weekly deadlines.

Each week, participants will contribute independently in the following ways:

- Watching instructional videos
- Completing simple projects
- Reflecting on the class wiki
