The Journal of Educators Online has announced the publication of its January 2007 issue

Don't miss this issue contains three papers representing the areas of contract learning, blended learning and online discussion, appears in Volume 4, Number 1, January 2007 edition of The Journal of Educators Online

• Clement C. Chen and Keith T. Jones’ Blended Learning vs. Traditional Classroom Settings: Assessing Effectiveness and Student Perceptions in an MBA Accounting Course discover that both delivery methods offer similar learning outcomes. Clement and Keith suggest that face-to-face classes report greater clarity of instruction, whilst the blended (web enhanced) section cited greater appreciation of the concepts and improved analytical skills.


• Seung Youn (Yonnie) Chyung's Invisible Motivation of Online Adult Learners During Contract Learning focuses on process in lieu of content structure. Yonnie suggests that contract learning seems appropriate when the course is not directly related to the student’s major, that ‘side dish’ options motivate and satisfy students, and to offer learning activities that are relevant to the student.


• Katrina A. Meyer’s Does Feedback Influence Student Postings to Online Discussions? Examines peer evaluation of online discussion board posts. Katrina’s findings are mixed, nonetheless, suggesting that graduate students might well evaluate peer discussions without instructor intervention.
