Carnell is program co-chair with Amy Travis, a middle grades math teacher at Kiser Middle School in Greensboro. As program co-chairs, Carnell and Travis put out a call for proposals, evaluated them and made selections for presenters at the conference. More than 350 presentations are planned with more than 2,000 educators expected to attend.

Topics to be covered at the conference include implementing Common Core State Standards, using technology in the classroom and integrating literacy and mathematics. Both university faculty and K-12 teachers will present, with each group providing its own expertise in the field of mathematics education.
