Just to let you know that this article, by Kathleen Roney and MaryAnn Davies, appears in Volume 3, Issue 5, June/July 2007 edition of Innovate.
They describe how a teacher education program employed TaskStream, a Web-based communications tool, to give professional guidance and support to their teacher interns. By promoting standards-based instruction, fostering reflective practice and focused mentoring, and facilitating the development of electronic portfolios to map out professional growth, TaskStream helped interns bridge the gap between their training and their classroom practice. Although Davies and Roney note that further challenges remain for the future use of the tool, their account nevertheless offers a valuable model of how online technology can enhance teacher education programs.
