It's the last year of the Pittsburg school district's three year techonology plan and this year they introduced some of their students to a tech they hope will encourage more engaged learning.

Touch screen technology is used in everyday life in and outside of the classrooms and the school district says they were not willing to fall behind the changing times.
"This year we added Apple iPads to the classrooms and in the 21st century we need to make sure that we provide that for our students," says Brett Dalton, Public Information Officer for the Pittsburg school district.
With the touch of a screen, students have access to 140 different apps, providing them with lessons in all areas of education.
"I learn how to spell words like 'kitten' in a word game," says first grade student Jackson Turnbull. "I like that it's touchscreen and I like all the games on them. It's a lot easier than writing on paper."
Lessons also include math, spelling, art and even learning how to tell time.
