Is getting a Moodle Badge for successfully completing a Moodle course a critical step towards getting an Oscar? A Moodlerooms’ E-Learn Magazine overview of the Australian Film Television and Radio School mentions four pieces of evidence.

AFTRS enjoys a high reputation in the art industries, and a constant effort takes place to transfer the reasons why into the digital arena. In overcoming the obstacles of pursuing excellence in both the highly technical and the creativity-focused languages, a blended learning model saw the light.

Students are required to master the theory behind color, composition and movement on a virtual classroom. Only after they are allowed in campus to get their hands on the hi-tech equipment for which AFTRS is recognized and often the reason why they choose to go there.

Moodlerooms, the Learning Management System, was chosen for the tools to allow collaboration between students, where different roles and responsibilities are defined. Say production, audio mixing and video editing. Giving people full autonomy on a team task seems to have kept creativity alive.

• Best Original Screenplay in 1993 to Jane Campion for The Piano
• Best Cinematography in 2001 to Andrew Lesnie for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
• Best Cinematography in 2005 to Dion Beebe for Memoirs of a Geisha
• Best Editing 2015 to Margater Sixel for Mad Max: Fury Road
