Online-only teaching extended for all at start of next term | Palatinate

Tim Sigsworth, Palatinate notes, Following the imposition of tier four restrictions across the North East yesterday, the University has announced that wholly online learning has been introduced for two weeks for Group A students and extended by one week for those in Group B.

Blended learning will now return on Monday 25th January for the former and Monday 1 February for the latter.

Group A features students in the Faculty of Science and Departments of Sports Science, Anthropology and Archaeology, Education, and Music, as well as postgraduate taught students in the Business School. Group B will comprise undergraduates studying humanities, law, sociology (excluding placements), and those in the School of Government and International Affairs...

Prof Stuart Corbridge, Vice-Chancellor of Durham University, said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and the communities of which we are part is our top priority.

“In accordance with the Government’s updated guidance for universities resuming their activities in January, we continue to work diligently to deliver a Covid-secure environment and the best student experience possible in what remain very difficult circumstances.

“Our teaching Term will begin on Monday 11 January with wholly online teaching in all programmes except for Education (initial teacher training) and Social Work, which will have a blended model of Covid-secure face-to-face and online teaching.
