A free Game Jam has been organised for this weekend, bringing together members of the public, students and industry experts to devise real computer games.

Held at the university’s campus in Havelock Road, Hastings, the event runs from Friday (November 13) to Sunday (November 15).

Jon McClellan, senior lecturer and course leader in BSc Digital Games Production in the university’s School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics, said the weekend comprises crash courses on games development, supported by university staff, professionals and volunteers.

He said: “No previous experience is needed and the team which creates the best game will win our Golden Gamepad award.

“We also have prizes donated by O’Reilly Media, and Studio Gobo (makers of the Disney Infinity: Star Wars game).

“This is a fantastic opportunity for all to explore, collaborate, experiment, learn, innovate, network, create, and have fun.”
