Excellence runs in the family | Northcliff Melville Times

Jared Wolf is still basking in the successes he achieved last year after passing matric with eight distinctions and receiving provincial swimming colours, as well as trophies for Hebrew, history and Afrikaans.

The other two trophies that he took home, for best all-rounder and for humanities, were twice as meaningful because his dad and uncle, respectively, received them when they were still attending King David. His grandfather was headmaster at the school and his father
Graham was awarded best all-rounder in 1987 when he was head boy.

Studying humanities has taught Wolf how to think critically and understand and relate to people. “It allowed me to explore historical, literary and cultural dimensions of the human experience. I also feel humbled to have been a source of pride to my family and to have been able to continue the lineage.”

The self-driven student said his desire to be a source of pride for his family and school was the ultimate motivators. He is now looking at conquering new ground at Wits university, where he will study actuarial science.
